On one side a state is promoting itself as an ideal investment under ‘Happening Haryana’, on the other side Jat agitation has come back this year also. Seeking reservation in government jobs for the community, members of Jat organisations started another round of agitation in Haryana as authorities in the state sounded a high alert to prevent the outbreak of violence.The agitation however largely remained peaceful with no reports of any violence till now. Orders prohibiting large gatherings have already been imposed in parts of sensitive districts including Rohtak, Sonipat, Jhajjar and at some other places. The security was also tightened at the residence of former Chief Minister of Haryana Bhoopender Singh Hooda. Yashpal Malik has said that 19th Feb. will be observed as ‘Balidan Divas’ for those lost their lives in last year Jat Agitation.Reuters INLD which is haryana’s main opposition party is supporting Jat Agitation. State Minister Anil Vij said that the opposition is trying to flare up the issue because they are not able to digest the dharnas in peaceful manner. The agitators are also demanding the release of arrested jat youths from jail and withdrawal of cases registered against them.
